Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017. CSA will not include 2017 tax rates or payroll forms, so, for 2017 and beyond, you will need to process payroll in another application. We recommend Accounting CS Payroll and myPay Solutions. For more information, see the following topics.

When you are ready to prepare and file the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Worksheet or for the relevant Minnesota withholding worksheet, follow the steps below to create a file for your specific form.

Be certain to review the specific instructions included below to ensure that you use the correct file formats for the withholding worksheet files.

UI Worksheet and DEED-1D

  1. Choose File > Print when the Minnesota Payroll Tax Processing window is open.
  2. Mark the Create SUTA file checkbox and then click OK.
  3. Choose File > SUTA File Utilities to do any of the following:
    • Combine Files
    • Preview File
    • Verify
    • Remove Client
    • Save to Submittable Format
    • Restore from Submittable Format
  4. Choose File > SUTA File Utilities > Save to Submittable Format. Choose the file location and then click OK.

    Notes

    • When the file is created, it is automatically encrypted for security. Before submitting the file to the appropriate agency you must use the Save to Submittable Format command, at which point the files are decrypted.
    • The file format is ICESA.
  5. Navigate to the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance home page and choose Employer Login.
  6. Sign in to E-File via the file transfer option.

You must register with the Minnesota Secretary of State as a payroll service or accountant to have the file transfer option.

Minnesota withholding worksheets (MW-1, MW-6, MW-1A)

  1. Choose File > Print when the Minnesota Payroll Tax Processing window is open.
  2. Mark the Create W/H File checkbox and then click OK.
  3. Choose File > W/H File Utilities, and point to the appropriate file type (MW-1 Worksheet, MW-1A Worksheet, or MW-6 Worksheet). You may then choose any of the following commands:
    • Combine Files
    • Preview File
    • Remove Clients
    • Save to Submittable Format
    • Restore from Submittable Format
  4. Choose File > W/H File Utilities > Save to Submittable Format. Choose the file location and then click OK.

    Note: When the file is created, it is automatically encrypted for security. Before submitting the file to the appropriate agency you must use the Save to Submittable Format command, at which point the files are decrypted.

    The file is created using a very specific format. When completing subsequent steps from the Minnesota Department of Revenue website, you need to ensure that your format selections match those listed below for each worksheet.

  5. Navigate to the Minnesota Department of Revenue website and log in to e-File Minnesota.
