Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017. CSA will not include 2017 tax rates or payroll forms, so, for 2017 and beyond, you will need to process payroll in another application. We recommend Accounting CS Payroll and myPay Solutions. For more information, see the following topics.

Follow the steps below to prepare the 94x forms (940/941/943/944/945).

Be sure that the appropriate checkboxes are marked on the Payroll tab of the File > Client Properties dialog to indicate the type of 94x tax forms to be filed for the client. Data for each of the 94x forms are completed as follows:

  1. Choose Utilities > Payroll Tax Processing.
  2. Click the appropriate flag to open the form in the Payroll Tax Processing window.
  3. Choose Tasks > Retrieve Payroll Information. Select the year (current or previous) for which you want to retrieve the information, and mark any or all of the following checkboxes to specify any overrides you want to clear during data retrieval.
    • Clear retrieved (blue) and calculated (black) field overrides
    • Clear supplemental (green) field overrides
    • Clear user-entered (orange) field overrides
  4. Click OK to retrieve the available data into the blue fields of the form.
  5. Choose Setup > Supplemental Information, complete the fields relevant to the active client, and then click OK to retrieve that data into the green fields of the form.

    If the Third-Party Designee checkbox is marked in that dialog, you can set up third-party designee information either globally or at the client level.

    • Global third-party designee information. Mark the Third-Party Designee checkbox in Supplemental Information dialog. Next, choose Setup > Third-Party Designee from the Form 940 window and complete the related information to be used for any 940, 941, 943, 944, or 945 form when the Third-Party Designee checkbox is marked and client-level detail has not been specified.
    • Client-level third-party designee information. Mark the Third-Party Designee checkbox in the Supplemental Information dialog and complete the related fields. (If any of the third-party designee fields are left blank, the application will use the information from the global Setup > Third-Party Designee dialog.)
  6. Review the data as shown for the form and data for the orange (user-entered) fields.
  7. Choose File > Print, or choose File > ELF Utilities to complete the filing steps.
