Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017. CSA will not include 2017 tax rates or payroll forms, so, for 2017 and beyond, you will need to process payroll in another application. We recommend Accounting CS Payroll and myPay Solutions. For more information, see the following topics.

What is EFTPS?

Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) offers you the convenience of making clients' federal tax payments electronically 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. EFTPS allows tax payments to move electronically from the taxpayer's bank account to the federal government's account. The taxpayer's records with the IRS are automatically updated for each such payment.

To participate in the Batch Filer program, you will need to complete the following basic steps. (More information is provided under "Registration and enrollment details," below.)

  1. Register as a filer.
  2. Obtain an authorization from each taxpayer for whom you will be submitting enrollments and making federal tax deposits.
  3. Enroll each of those taxpayers with the appropriate financial agent.

Those expecting to participate in the EFTPS Batch Filer program are strongly encouraged to read the Department of Treasury document entitled Batch Filer Guide, which can be downloaded from the EFTPS website at www.eftps.gov or which can be requested by calling EFTPS customer service.

Note: The IRS has discontinued use of the paper coupon for making federal tax deposits after December 31, 2010. Therefore, instead of filing tax payments with Form 8109 (Federal Tax Deposit Coupon), businesses need to use the EFTPS system to make deposits electronically, or they may use a payroll-processing provider who can file electronically for them.
