  1. Choose Setup > Employee Templates to open the Employee Templates dialog.

Note: An employee template is a set of default information that you can apply to an employee being added to the system. To reduce your setup time when adding new employees, create templates for employees with similar pay and deduction items. Press F3 and select Copy Employee Template from the menu to copy an existing template within the open client. To copy a template from another client, choose Utilities > Transfer Client Information.

  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Click the Earnings tab and enter the appropriate information. The Description field is required.
  4. Choose the pay items from the Description drop-down list that are relevant to this employee's work in the selected department.
  5. Click the /_images/acct_pr/csa/details.gif button to open the Pay Item Properties dialog where you can edit details for the highlighted item as it specifically pertains to the selected employee template. After entering information on the Pay Item, Exclusions, and Other tabs, as applicable, click OK to return to the Employee Templates dialog.
  6. Choose the applicable GL account from the drop-down list.
  7. Select the applicable wage type from the drop-down list in the Wage Type field.
  8. In the Rate fields, enter the dollar amount associated with each specific pay item.

    Notes

    • If employees are paid different rates, you can leave this field blank and fill it in for each employee.
    • If the pay item type is Hourly, enter the hourly rate. If the pay item type is Salaried (either hours sensitive or hours insensitive), enter the annual salary.
  9. Select the applicable pay frequency from the Frequency drop-down list.
  10. In the Link To field, enter the wage type to which the wages are linked. (This field is accessible only if the wage type for the selected pay item is Linked to Other.)

    Example: Vacation linked to Salary
