If you are a licensed user of Trial Balance CS and the Lacerte, ProSystem fx, or ProSeries tax export capability, you can export client tax data to your tax application. The tax data export feature is available for the following entity types: 1120, 1120s, 1065, and 990 Exempt (plus 990 Private Foundation for Lacerte and ProSeries only).

  1. From the CSA main window, choose Utilities > Tax Export and then choose Lacerte, ProSystem fx, or ProSeries.
  2. In the Tax Export dialog, specify the name and location of the new export file to be created by entering the path and name in the Link file name field, or click the Browse button to navigate to an appropriate destination file.
  3. Specify the tax year of the data to be exported by selecting it from the F4 drop-down list.
  4. Lacerte or ProSystem fx only. In the Balance Type group box, mark either the Tax balances or Adjusted balances checkbox to specify the type of information to export.
  5. Lacerte only. If the client's prior year balances are to be included in the export file, mark the Export prior-year balances checkbox.
  6. Lacerte or ProSystem fx only. To export balance sheet information in itemized rather than summarized format, mark the Export details checkbox (Lacerte) or the Detail checkbox (ProSystem fx).
  7. Lacerte or ProSystem fx only. Tax Code Account Groupings can be used to group account information into a single line item in the export file. Each Tax Code Account Grouping that is set up will appear as a single record, along with the grouping description. Mark the Export details checkbox (Lacerte) or the Detail checkbox (ProSystem fx).
  8. Click the OK button to create the export file and view the Tax Export Diagnostics report. (Note that this diagnostics report is not available for the ProSeries export.)
Note: For information on the import procedure for your Lacerte, ProSystem fx, or ProSeries applications, please refer to the documentation for those applications.
