The ELF Data Errors dialog displays any errors the application finds in your electronic filing data when you attempt to queue a file for transmission. Examples of errors are missing information, incomplete fields, or unmatching liability and net tax amounts.

940/941/944 electronic filing: Choose Payroll Tax Processing from the Utilities menu, and then either click the United States flag (940, 941, or 944) icon in the shortcut bar on the left or choose 940, 941, or 944 from the View menu. Choose File > Print, mark the Queue for transmission checkbox on the Print Tax Forms dialog, and then click the OK button. Enter information into the PIN information dialog. If there are errors in the filing data, the ELF data errors dialog will open automatically.

State return electronic filing: Choose Payroll Tax Processing from the Utilities menu, and then either click the appropriate state flag icon in the shortcut bar on the left or choose the state from the View menu. Choose File > Print, mark the Queue checkboxes for the appropriate forms on the Print Tax Forms dialog, and then click the OK button. If there are errors in the filing data, the ELF Data Errors dialog will open automatically.
