Use the Percentage tab of the Automatic Journal Entries dialog to set up automatic journal entries based on percentages. In this tab section you can define the range of accounts from which the journal entry is calculated, the individual accounts to be adjusted and the appropriate percentages.
Choose Automatic Journal Entries from the Setup menu and then click the Percentage tab.
From Account
Specify the account number to use as the beginning account for the range of account numbers to include in the calculation.
To Account
Specify account number to use as the ending account for the range of account numbers to include. The To Account number must be greater than the From Account number.
YTD/Current
Specify either Year to Date or Current Period amounts by selecting the appropriate option from the F4 drop-down list.
Debit/Credit
Choose Debit if the total of the account range will usually have a debit balance or Credit if the total of the account range will usually have a credit balance.
Compounding (checkbox)
By default, each percentage journal entry is calculated independently. To have percentage-type automatic journal entries calculate in a certain order, mark the Compounding checkbox for each entry and use the Reference field to specify the appropriate calculation sequence. The application completes each calculation based on an alphanumeric sort of the Reference field (for example, 4.1, 5, A1, A100, A11, A12, A2, A2.1, and so on). If more than one compounding entry uses the same reference, posting is based on order entered.
Reversing (checkbox)
The exact opposite of the transaction that you enter in this period will be made at the start of the next period. The reversing transaction uses the period end date as the transaction date and the reference is incremented by .1.
Specify the following distribution information for this journal entry.
Account
Specify the account to be adjusted by selecting it from the F4 drop-down list.
Percentage
Enter the percentage of the total from the combined range of accounts that you want to distribute to the selected account. The total of the percentages entered for credit distributions must be equal to the total of the percentages entered for debit distributions.
Debit/Credit
Choose Debit or Credit from the drop-down list.
