Use this dialog to include in the reconciliation, checks and deposits that have not been recorded using Payroll CS or the General Ledger module but are included in the GL balance.

Example: When you acquire a new client, and enter beginning balances in the general ledger, those balances will not be recorded as checks or deposits, they will appear only as part of the summary balances. To resolve this, you would enter the existing open checks and deposits in this dialog so that they would be available for clearing and not affect the GL balances.

Do not use this dialog to add checks or deposits that have never been recorded in the General Ledger. To add checks or deposits that have never been recorded in the General Ledger, use the Transaction Entry or Payroll Check Entry window. Checks and deposits entered on either of these windows will automatically appear when you return to the Bank Reconciliation window.

To open the Initial Open Items dialog, you must first open the Bank Reconciliation window and then choose Initial Open Items from the Edit menu or from the F3 or right-click context menu.
