The overall objective of the Datawrite Client Accounting to Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA) conversion utility is to provide a comprehensive conversion of your Datawrite data to the Write-Up CS software in CSA.

After creating or opening the client, choose Utilities > Data Conversion > Datawrite.

Special information

  • Due to differences in processing calculations and in data structures between Datawrite and CSA, some data cannot be converted. Therefore, you should not expect to exactly duplicate results from Datawrite using the converted data without adding or modifying the appropriate data in CSA. The specific items that cannot be converted and conversion exceptions are listed in the Conversion Notes and Exceptions section of the Datawrite to CSA Conversion Guide (PDF).
  • Payroll check information is not converted from Datawrite to CSA. It is recommended that you convert your client data at the beginning of a new quarter or year since some reports might not calculate correctly if you were to convert the client data in the middle of a quarter. Also, some manipulation of your data in Datawrite may be required prior to conversion.

Fields & buttons

Location of files to import

Enter the location where the client data files that you wish to convert are stored, or click the Browse button to search for the correct data folder.

Client to import

Once you have specified the location of the files to convert, choose the client that you would like to convert by selecting it from the drop-down list.

Convert employee earnings

Mark this checkbox if you would like to convert employee earnings information for the selected client.

Note: If there are no employee earnings in the Datawrite file, we recommend that you do not mark this checkbox. You will then be able to use the Employee Templates feature of the Payroll Compliance module to complete the payroll item structure for the individual employees. This includes the added advantage of having the re-useable employee templates available for use when adding future employees.
