Use the E-Verify Setup dialog to enter information from Form I-9 for the active client's newly hired employees, for subsequent transmission via CS Connect for electronic verification using the E-Verify (Employee Eligibility Verification) program.

From the Setup > Employees window, choose E-Verify Employee Setup from the Edit menu or from the HF or right-click context menu.

Fields & buttons

Most of the fields in this dialog are made accessible based on the selections specified in the drop-down lists for the first two fields, Citizenship Status and Document Type.

Specify the following information as appropriate for the selected employee, based on the information included on Form I-9. You can use the navigation buttons at the top of the dialog to move quickly through the client's list of employees.

  • Citizenship Status. Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list for this field.
  • Document Type. Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list for this field.
  • Expiration Date. This information is required if the selected document type is I-688, I-688, I-688, or I-766.
  • Alien Number. If Work Authorized is selected in the first field of this dialog, either an Alien Number or I-94 Number is required.
  • I-94 Number. If Work Authorized is selected in the first field of this dialog, either an Alien Number or I-94 Number is required.
  • Card Number. Required if citizenship status is Lawful Permanent Resident with Form I-551 or Alien Authorized to Work with Form I-766.
  • Late Verification Explanation. If the file is submitted more than three days after the employee's date of hire, select the reason for the filing delay.
    • If Other. If Other was selected as the reason for the late verification, enter explanatory text.
  • Visa Number. This information is required if the citizenship status is Work Authorized and the document type is Unexpired Foreign Passport with I-94 stamp.
  • Passport Number. This information is required if the citizenship status is Lawful Permanent Resident and the document type is Unexpired Foreign Passport with I-94 stamp.
  • Maiden Name.
  • Case Number. This number is assigned by the government's E-Verify program and is filled in here automatically after the employee's verification file as been transmitted via CS Connect and a response has been retrieved.
