This dialog opens automatically when you choose to retrieve client data from QuickBooks Pro for a Write-Up CS client (via Accountant's Assistant) or for a Trial Balance CS client. Note that if the company file in QuickBooks does not contain an active payroll subscription, balances resulting from payroll checks or payroll liability checks are excluded from the import.

If the QuickBooks data to be retrieved has ever been opened in QuickBooks 2006 or higher, mark the relevant checkbox, click one of the following options, and then click OK.

  • Retrieve directly from QuickBooks company file: To use this option, you must have the QuickBooks program installed and the company data file open in QuickBooks during the import.
    1. The QuickBooks - Application Certificate dialog opens automatically in QuickBooks.
    2. Click the Yes, always; allow access to the data even if QuickBooks is not running option.
    3. Mark the Allow this application to access personal data such as Social Security Numbers and customer credit card information checkbox and then proceed with the import.
  • Retrieve from files exported by CSA utility: Click this option if the data you are about to import has been saved in an export file created using the CS QuickBooks Data Utility.
