Special information
Automatic backups to FileCabinet CS
- The automatic backups occur when you close the client in CSA.
- FileCabinet CS stores backups in Data Backup folder for each client. Within that folder are icons for each source product; click a product icon to see available backups. FileCabinet displays the date of the backup, the user, period, and comments (if any).
- To restore client data from the backup copy in your FileCabinet Browser, choose File > Restore and then mark the Focus Listing checkbox for Clients with backups in FileCabinet CS.

Fields & buttons
For licensed users of FileCabinet CS
To have your Creative Solutions Accounting software automatically back up client data to FileCabinet CS when you close the client in CSA, mark the checkbox labeled Automatically back up client data to FileCabinet CS. Also specify the desired information for the following field and checkboxes, which are enabled only if the above checkbox is currently marked:
- Retain a maximum <n> backups per client
You may choose to have FileCabinet CS retain a maximum of 2 to 10 backups per client (with 3 as the default selection). When the maximum number has been reached, the oldest backup is purged in favor of the most recent so that only the specified maximum number of backups is retained.
- Limit backups to a maximum of 1 per day (recommended)
If this checkbox is marked - regardless of how many times you have opened and closed the client during a day - only the most recent data from that day is saved in the backup file.
If this checkbox is not marked, FileCabinet CS retains backups from all recent openings > closings of the client file, regardless of when they occurred, up to the maximum specified. (In other words, multiple backups could be from the same day.)
- Permit a user-entered comment to be assigned to each backup
To permit the CSA user to enter a comment for each backup of client data, mark this checkbox. When closing the client in CSA, the program opens a dialog where the user may enter the comment to be included in the backup description in FileCabinet CS. Note that the user may also choose to click either the Backup button or the Do Not Back up button to close that dialog.
- Compress client data during backup
To conserve hard drive space, mark this checkbox. Note, however, that closing the client may take a bit longer when this option is selected.
Note: To restore client data from the backup copy in your Browser, choose File > Restore and then mark the Focus Listing checkbox for Clients with backups in FileCabinet CS.
