When creating a tax export file for Lacerte or for ProSystem fx, a diagnostic report dialog opens automatically during the tax export procedure and lists the following information about the newly created tax export file. There are three sections in the Tax Export Diagnostics report:

  • Accounts with no tax codes. No tax code has been assigned to these accounts in the Setup > Chart of Accounts window.
  • Accounts with non-standard tax codes. Invalid CSA tax codes have been assigned to these accounts (denoted by a red bar next to the Tax Code field in the Setup > Chart of Accounts window).
  • Accounts with tax codes not supported by the tax software (Lacerte or ProSystem fx). The tax vendor does not have a corresponding tax code that matches the selected CSA code.
Note: The tax export file for Lacerte and ProSystem fx does not include retained earnings. Retained earnings are calculated by the tax software, or you can enter the appropriate information manually.
