Use the Other tab of the Employee Templates dialog to enter additional setup information for an employee template, including standard hours and multipliers, GL account numbers for FICA, FUTA, and SUTA, and any data entry reminder that you wish to automatically include in the employee record for any new employee to be based on the selected template.
To create or modify a template, choose Employee Templates from the Setup menu.
Note: Templates are client specific, not global. For each template, fill in only the fields that you wish to have automatically included in the setup for each new employee record to be based on that template.
Fields & buttons
Displays the description of the selected template (as entered on the Earnings tab of this dialog.)
Enter the appropriate number of hours for each of the following. These become the default settings for a payroll department that uses this employee template.
- Standard hours per week
- Standard weeks per year
- Overtime multiplier
- Double-time multiplier
Enter the appropriate general ledger account number to use for each of the following FICA and FUTA categories, or select the account number from the drop-down list:
- FICA Social Security liability
- FICA Social Security expense
- FICA Medicare liability
- FICA Medicare expense
- FUTA liability
- FUTA expense
Enter the two-character code for all of the relevant SUTA states, and then use the corresponding account fields to select the appropriate GL expense and liability accounts to use for the SUTA calculations.
To have the program calculate SUTA amounts and the SUTA Worksheet report, the state field must be completed for the applicable state(s) for each employee to be based on this template.
The drop-down list for this field includes only the states that you have already listed for this client in the Payroll tab of the File > New Client dialog or the File > Client Properties dialog.
You can enter up to 30 characters of text to use as a reminder during payroll data entry for an employee based on this template. This text will appear in the status bar during payroll check entry for the employee.
