When printing an engagement binder to FileCabinet CS or to a PDF you may receive the following error message:

A new guard page for the stack cannot be created.

This error message typically means the system has run out of memory due to an issue with one of the documents in the engagement binder. If you receive this error message and are unable to print your engagement binder, follow the steps below.

  1. Open any Excel spreadsheets in the engagement binder individually.
  2. With an Excel spreadsheet open, go to View and click Page Break View.
  3. Review the spreadsheet and check for a large number of extra blank pages.
  4. Delete any large number of extra blank pages. It is possible for a spreadsheet to have hundreds of extra blank pages which can cause issues when attempting to print the engagement binder.
  5. Close the Excel spreadsheets and attempt to print the engagement binder again.

If the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the error, try opening each document in the binder individually to verify that the documents are working correctly. If any document fails to open properly, it is possible the document is corrupted and must be removed in order to print the engagement binder successfully.
