As an administrator, you can use the security features in Accounting CS to create custom security groups. Each group can have unique permission settings that are specific to a set of tasks or roles within your firm. Then, by assigning individual staff members to one or more security groups, you can restrict access to various features of the application as needed; staff members are able to access only the parts of application that are relevant to the security group(s) to which they have been assigned

Setting up security groups for your firm

Choose Setup > Firm Information > Security Groups. Specify a name or description for each group and mark the appropriate permission checkboxes to grant access to those features of the application for any staff members who will be assigned to that group.

Notes

  • The Administrator security group cannot be changed or deleted. All firms must assign at least one staff member to the Administrator security group to ensure that all areas of the application and all client records are accessible.
  • To quickly copy the security settings for an existing security group as a starting point for a new security group, choose Edit > Copy Security Group (or select that command from the right-click context menu). This action automatically copies the settings for the current group into a new group for which you can provide a description and further customize the security settings for the group as necessary.
