If logging a completion or extension event in an UltraTax client does not complete or extend the client’s project or task in Practice CS, use the steps in this topic to resolve the issue.

  1. Open the client in UltraTax CS.
  2. Go to Utilities, then Client Status.
  3. In the Log Event tab, click the button for the completion or extension event to log it to the client.

  6. Select the Done button.
  7. Close the client in UltraTax CS.
  8. In Practice CS, choose Actions, then Manage Projects.
  9. Select the Refresh button to refresh the Manage Projects screen.

The client ID in UltraTax CS and Practice CS must match. It is not necessary for the SSN/EIN to match.

In Practice CS:

  1. Choose Setup, then Clients.
  2. Find the client and select the Edit button.
  3. Select the Projects tab.
  4. Find the project you are attempting to complete or extend (or the project that contains the task you are attempting to complete) and double-click it.
  5. If you are attempting to complete/extend a project, stay on the Main tab. If you are attempting to complete a task, go to the Tasks tab and double-click the task.
  6. Verify that the Select solution drop-down is pointed to the correct year of UltraTax CS.
  7. Verify that the Completion event or Extension event (for projects only – tasks cannot be extended) is set to the correct UltraTax CS event.

If the client has multiple projects, verify that another project for the same client does not have the same completion or extension event:

  • For projects with the same project ID/name and same year of UltraTax as the solution, the project with the oldest due date will be completed/extended first. Therefore, if the project you are trying to complete/extend is not the oldest project, you will need to log the event more than once.
  • For projects with different IDs/names, only one project will completed/extended, even if the event is logged more than once. Therefore, you will need to choose a different completion/extension event.
