Cause

This is a generic error with many possible causes.

Solution

  1. Turn the Windows User Account Control (UAC) to Never Notify and reboot the machine. Consult your firm's IT professional and see User Account Control Step-by-Step Guide External link . ( What's this?) for more information.
  2. Confirm you are logged in with an admin-level user account.
  3. Create the recommended exceptions in your antivirus.
  4. Check the error log for any other errors.
  5. Ask your IT professional or network administrator to review the Permissions guidelines for the CS Professional Suite. In addition to setting folder permissions, you may also need to run the installer using the system account vs. the domain admin account.
    1. If you are experiencing failure installing to a network drive please first collect the logs referenced in the installer logging and obtain them for development.
    2. Download PsExec from Microsoft's website.
    3. Extract the .zip file to a folder location on the user’s pc or Network. You want them extracted to the machine that will be running the UltraTax CS and/or Fixed Assets CS installer.
    4. Open the Command Prompt as Admin by going to Start > Accessories and right clicking on Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator on the machine where you will be running the install from.
    5. Type psexec -i -s cmd.exe and press Enter.
    6. Type net use X: \\ComputerName\ShareName, where x-the network drive letter you want to map.
  6. Ask your IT professional or network administrator to check that the registry keys for UltraTax all point consistently to the same network path.
