Annotating documents with highlighter or typed text

  1. Select and open a document to annotate in the Watch window.
  2. Choose Edit > Annotations > Highlighter, or Typed Text.

You can also right-click in the Watch window and choose Highlighter or Typed Text from the context menu, or click the Highlighter button or the Typed Text button in the Annotation toolbar. If the Annotation toolbar is not visible, right-click in the Watch window and choose Annotation Toolbar from the context menu.

  3. Click the document and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the pointer until the annotation is the size you want. Note that you can adjust the size later.
  4. For a text annotation, enter text in the text box.
  5. Click and drag the handles along the border of the annotation to resize it.
  6. To change attributes such as Font, Font Size, Frame, Text Position, Frame Color, Frame Width, Background Color, Transparent, Continuous mode, or Colors (for highlighter annotations), right-click the annotation and choose Current Annotation Properties from the context menu.

You can use the Text annotation with a white background color to cover or overwrite sections of your document.

Notes

  • When you add an annotation, its position is determined by the method you use to place it.
  • You can set default annotation attributes globally or by annotation type.
  • Click the Set as Default button after making changes in the Current Annotation Properties dialog to save them as the default settings for the current annotation type.
  • You can cut, copy, and paste annotations documents and pages using the appropriate menu commands available from the Edit menu, or by right-clicking an annotation.
  • After a text or Highlighter annotation is added to a multiple-page document, you can apply the annotation to all pages by right-clicking and choosing Apply to all pages from the context menu. Any changes made to the annotation after it is applied to all pages are reflected on all pages, except changes made to the size or position of the annotation. At any time, you can right-click the annotation and choose Apply to all pages from the context menu again to remove it from all other pages (with the exception of the current page).
