Downloading and applying updates

Fixed Assets CS checks for updates at a scheduled time, and downloads and installs all updates automatically. However, you can download and apply updates at any time, either by changing the default scheduled time of 3 a.m. eastern time (choose Setup > System Configuration, and then click the CS Connect + Options tab) or by following these steps.

Note: If you access Fixed Assets CS through Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS), you do not need to use CS Connect because the most current version of Fixed Assets CS is always available.

  1. Choose Utilities > CS Connect.
  2. Click the Retrieve and apply available updates switch to set it to Yes.
  3. Click the Connect button to log in to our secure data centers and download all available updates.
  4. Click the Close button on the Call Summary dialog.
  5. If updates were downloaded, the Looking for pending updates dialog will appear as the updates are applied. Upon completion, a dialog will appear stating that the updates have been applied and that it is necessary to restart Fixed Assets CS.
  6. Restart Fixed Assets CS to complete the update process. User bulletins will appear explaining the purpose of each update.
