The Upload Documents Service is used with the ScanFlow, Lotus Notes, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Add-Ins. The Upload Documents Service is required for ScanFlow, but needed for Outlook/Notes Integration only if your firm will add email messages and their attachments to GoFileRoom. This Add-In is also optional if you are using the Adobe Acrobat Add-In.

Note: This features is available to GoFileRoom Administrators only.

Installation instructions

Follow these steps to install the Upload Server component.

If Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is installed on your computer, you must uninstall it before proceeding.

  1. If you have not done so already, you must download and install the Microsoft .NET 4.0 (or higher) Framework External link. (What's this?)

    on the server that will be the centralized upload machine prior to installing the Upload Documents Service.

    Note: This will take several minutes and will require a reboot.

  2. Log in to GoFileRoom, click your name in the upper-right corner of the screen and choose Upload Service from the drop-down list.
  3. In the File Download - Security Warning dialog, click Run.
  4. If an Internet Security Warning dialog appears, click Run.
  5. The InstallShield Wizard will guide you through the remainder of the installation process. Click Finish to complete the installation.

Configuration

Follow these steps to configure the Upload Server component.

  1. Ensure that you are running Windows using a domain administrator account.
  2. Click the Start button in the Windows taskbar and click the Control Panel command.
  3. Double-click the Administrative Tools icon, then double-click the Services icon.
  4. In the Services list of the Services dialog, right-click the GoFileRoom Upload Documents service and select Properties.
  5. Click the Log On tab and click the This account option.
  6. Specify a local administrator in the This account field and add a password, or click the Browse button to choose an administrator profile.
  7. Click OK and start the GoFileRoom Upload Documents service by right-clicking on it again in the Services list and choosing Start or Restart from the context menu.

    Note: You should make the GoFileRoom Upload Documents service start Automatically. Also, ensure that the service is running using a domain administrator account. Once configured, you will have to restart the service.

If you have Outlook, ScanFlow, or PDF Modification clients and the Upload Server components installed on the same PC, no further actions are necessary to begin using these features.

If you will be using a centralized server for your saved email and attachment uploads, you must configure Upload Locations and change some settings in each component's INI file. Please contact GoFileRoom Support to help you configure these settings.
