To achieve optimal results when using TaxSort to identify and organize tax source documents, follow these guidelines when setting up your scanner.

  • Set your scanner resolution to 300 DPI (dots per inch).
  • Scan only in black and white (as opposed to color or grayscale).
  • Increase the contrast level of your scanned images.
  • Set the scan area to 8 1/2 X 11 inches.
  • Set any available dropout color option to "none."
  • Consider licensing an application such as Kofax VRS, that offers additional settings and functionality to help clean up the quality of scanned images.
