Use the Datasets screen to create a data storage area for your Mobile CS data. Mobile CS Link uses the data storage area to maintain the CS Professional Suite data you would like to make available to the Mobile CS app.
To open the Datasets screen, from the Start menu, choose All Programs > Mobile CS Link > Mobile CS Link. The Datasets setup screen opens automatically.
Fields and buttons
The data that will be accessed by your mobile devices.
Enter a name for the dataset. This is the name you will choose on the mobile device to access the firm's data, if there are multiple datasets for a particular user.
Note: The name can contain up to thirty alphanumeric characters.
Update interval: Indicate how often you would like the mobile dataset updated. At regular intervals, Mobile CS Link will query your CS Professional Suite data and update your mobile dataset. Thirty minutes is the minimum update interval.
If you want to temporarily stop Mobile CS Link from updating the mobile dataset, mark the Disabled checkbox.
Note: If you are a Virtual Office CS user, your dataset consists of real-time data. Therefore, the Settings section is unnecessary and unavailable.
To make your CS Professional Suite data available, you will need to provide information about the data you are using for each of your CS Professional Suite applications.
Practice CS
To make your Practice CS data available to the Mobile CS app, select your Practice CS firm. You must also enter a Practice CS staff ID and password to be used by the Mobile CS service. The service uses the login information to query your database when updating the mobile dataset.
Note: We recommend that you use a login for the Practice CS desktop application that is not used by an actual staff member. Consider using login credentials for an administrative staff member whose status is set to inactive but without a Left date entered. This avoids using one of your firm's licensed timekeepers. Also, if an actual staff ID is used, the Staff In/Out status in the Staff Availability portlet will not accurately represent the staff member's status. Further, if the staff member's password is changed in Practice CS, you will need to update the password in Mobile CS Link, too. Otherwise, Mobile CS Link will fail to update the Mobile CS dataset.
