File Exchange is free, and it enables DT Staff Portal users and DT Client Portal users to exchange files in a secure environment.
You can give individual DT Client Portal users or groups of DT Client Portal users access to selected File Exchange folders. You can allow DT Client Portal users to download files from the folders. You can also allow DT Client Portal users to upload files to folders, delete files from folders, and delete subfolders.
You can give individual DT Staff Portal users or groups of DT Staff Portal users access to all or to selected File Exchange folders. Depending on the type of folder in which the files reside, DT Staff Portal users who have access to File Exchange and DT Client Portal administration can view files in, upload files to, and delete files from File Exchange folders.
File Exchange folder types
The following types of File Exchange folders are available to DT Client Portal users.

DT Client Portal users can upload files to personal folders. Each DT Client Portal user can see only the files he uploaded. You can give DT Staff Portal users access to DT Client Portal users’ personal File Exchange folders. DT Staff Portal users can view all files in any folder to which they have access. |
DT Staff Portal users who have access to personal File Exchange folders through File Exchange permissions can view files in and upload files to personal File Exchange folders. To do this, choose the DT Client Portal user’s name from the File Exchange View field at the top of the File Exchange screen in the DT Staff Portal user portal. You can also give DT Staff Portal users permission to view clients’ portals through DT Firm Portal administration. |

When you allow DT Client Portal users to view shared folders, they can view all files in the folders. You choose whether DT Client Portal users can also upload files to, delete files from, and delete subfolders from shared folders. DT Staff Portal users who have access to shared File Exchange folders can upload files to and delete files from the folders. |
DT Staff Portal users who have access to shared File Exchange folders through File Exchange permissions can view files in, upload files to, and delete files from shared File Exchange folders. To do this, choose the DT Client Portal user’s name from the File Exchange View field at the top of the File Exchange screen. You can also give DT Staff Portal users permission to view clients’ portals through DT Firm Portal administration. |
File Exchange subfolders
Subfolders can only be created for the "Shared" folder type.
