Migrating FileCabinet CS data to a new location on the Virtual Client Office servers

Complete the following procedures only if we instruct you to back up your FileCabinet CS data.

Back up FileCabinet CS data

  1. Create an FCSbackups folder on your local hard drive.
  2. In the navigation pane, click the Applications link and then click the FileCabinet CS icon to open the application.

    Note: If you do not see these items, you do have access to applications through Virtual Client Office.

  3. In FileCabinet CS, choose File > Backup.
  4. Double-click a drawer or drawers to move them to the right (Selected) pane, or click the Select All button.

    Note: The open drawer (if any) is listed in the Selected pane automatically.

  5. In the Backup data group box, click the Modify Backup Location button, navigate to C:\FCSbackups, and click OK.

    Note: C$ on Client (V:) is your local C:\ drive in the Virtual Client Office environment.

  6. Close FileCabinet CS.

We need to modify your Virtual Client Office configuration before you restore your backed-up data into FileCabinet CS. We will let you know when we have made the necessary changes. Please do not restore your data until you hear from us.

Restore data into FileCabinet CS

  1. After we tell you that we’ve made the necessary changes to your Virtual Client Office configuration, open FileCabinet CS and choose File > Restore.
  2. In the Restore Data group box, click the Change Restore Location button, navigate to the FCSbackups folder on your local C:\ drive.

    Note: C$ on Client (V:) is your local C:\ drive in the Virtual Client Office environment.

  3. Double-click one or more drawers in the left pane to move them to the right (Selected) pane, or click the Select All button.
  4. Verify that the Automatically create folders checkbox is marked to recreate the folder structure of each drawer.
  5. Click the Restore button.

Set up FileCabinet CS

  1. To restore drawer families, choose Help > Repair and click the Rebuild Drawer Families button in the Drawers tab.
  2. Choose Setup > System Configuration and modify settings as appropriate for your company.

    Note: If your company uses advanced security, you will need to set up the advanced security again.

  3. Each FileCabinet CS user should choose Setup > User Preferences and make any necessary changes.

You are now ready to work in FileCabinet CS. You should treat Virtual Client Office FileCabinet CS like a new installation of FileCabinet CS.
