Attaching files to your tax organizer

Follow these steps to attach to your tax organizer files that contain information regarding the preparation of your tax return.


  • View the types of files that you can attach.
    • Intuit Quicken export files in tax exchange format (TXF)
    • Microsoft Excel files (XLS or XLSX)
    • Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX, or RTF)
    • Adobe Reader (PDF)
    • Image files (JPG, BMP, TIF, or PNG)
    • Web pages (HTM or HTML)
    • Text documents (TXT)
  • You can attach a maximum of 50 files and you can include multiple files in a single upload.
    You can upload multiple files by clicking a file and then pressing and holding down the CTRL key while clicking additional files. To select multiple files that are listed consecutively, click the first file, press and hold the SHIFT key, and then click the last file.
  • The size of each file cannot exceed 10 MB.
  1. In the Documents section of the navigation pane, click the link for the folder that contains the tax organizer.

    Note: If you don't see these items, you don't have access to a tax organizer.

  2. Click the Uploaded Tax Documents link.
  3. Click the Upload icon.
  4. Do one of the following.
    • Click the Add files button, navigate to the files you want to upload, select them, and click the Open button.
    • If your internet browser supports HTML 5, the words "Drag files here" appear in the upload dialog. You can upload files by opening Windows Explorer, navigating to the files you want to upload, selecting the files, and dragging the files to the file list.
  5. Click the Start upload button.
  6. After you add all of the files that you want to attach, click the Start upload button.

To view uploaded files, click the name of the file in the Uploaded Tax Documents screen.

Tip: To remove a file attachment from your tax organizer, mark the checkbox to the left of the file and click the Delete Selected button at the top of the screen.
