Client initializing and then disappears / Problem launching CBS ASP and Virtual Office CS applications

Show expandable text

If the Citrix ICA Client disappears when you attempt to open an application in Virtual Office CS or CBS ASP, your computer may have an issue with ICA licensing. Follow these steps to resolve this issue.

Making changes in the registry could cause problems with your operating system. Thomson Reuters recommends having a qualified technician make registry changes because problems with the registry can cause serious problems with the operating system. We also recommended that you back up the registry before making changes to it.

  1. Choose Start > Run.
  2. Enter regedit and press ENTER.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ MSLicensing.
  4. Right-click the Store folder and click Delete.
  5. Close the registry editor and try to launch the application.

If removing the registry key does not resolve the issue, verify that the ICA file extension is registered to open with the Citrix ICA Client Engine.

For Windows 8 and 10

  1. Search Apps for Default Programs.
  2. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.
  3. Find and click the .ICA extension.
  4. Verify that the extension is set to open with Citrix ICA Client. If so, you don't need to do anything further.
  5. If the extension is not set to open with the ICA Client Engine, click the Change Program button and select Citrix ICA Client.
  6. Click OK.

Note: You may have to browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client, select wfica32, and click Open.

  7. Click Close.

For Windows 7

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
  2. Choose Default Programs.
  3. Select Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.
  4. Find and click the .ICA extension.
  5. Verify that the extension is set to open with Citrix ICA Client. If so, you don't need to do anything further.
  6. If the extension is not set to open with the ICA Client Engine, click the Change Program button and select Citrix ICA Client.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Close.
