CS Professional Suite applications that have scanning capabilities (Engagement CS, FileCabinet CS and Fixed Assets CS) have one main requirement for scanner compatibility - the scanner must be TWAIN-compliant (and the TWAIN software must be installed at each workstation that will initiate scanning).

For information on CS Professional Suite system requirements, visit the System Requirements page of our website.

If you must use a scanner that does not meet the system requirements, and you use the CS Professional Suite in Virtual Office CS, you have a few viable options. Of course, purchasing a TWAIN-compliant scanner will be the most efficient option, and will allow you the most options within FileCabinet CS.

Scenario 1: Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as .PDF files. In FileCabinet CS on Virtual Office, choose Object / Create from File to navigate to the PDF and embed it. (See FileCabinet CS: Creating an embedded object from an existing file for more information.)

Scenario 2: Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as multi-page TIFF files. In FileCabinet CS on Virtual Office, choose Image / Copy from File to navigate to the TIFF and import it. (See Importing Image Files for more information.)

Scenario 3: Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as any file type (PDF, TIF, etc.). Print to the FileCabinet CS Virtual Office print driver. (See Installing the FileCabinet CS Virtual Office Print Driver and Using the FileCabinet CS Virtual Office Print Driver for more information.

Although other scenarios exist, these are the most commonly used scenarios for non-TWAIN compliant scanners in the Virtual Office CS environment.
