Practice CS: How to Create a New Database

Show expandable text

Practice CS allows you to have more than one database. The initial installation adds a database called Sample which contains Sample/Training data that you can use to acquaint yourself with the operation of the program. At some point you will create one or more databases that you will use to store and process your own data.

To create a new database:

  1. Open Practice CS using the Sample database.
  2. Go to File > New > Firm.
Note: Practice CS refers to each database as a "Firm."
  3. In the dialog that opens, enter the name you want to assign to your new database name in the New Name field.
  4. Click OK.
  5. The application will create a new database. This may take a few minutes.
  6. To open the newly created database, go to File > Open Firm. In the login screen select your new database in the Open Firm field and enter ADMIN in the Staff ID field. A password is not needed as security has not yet been enabled for this new database.
