Change to CS Support service hours

Our Support department is closed on [[date]]. However, limited UltraTax CS phone support is available on that date from 9 AM - 5 PM ET due to the approaching deadline.

Links to our most popular tax processing topics are available in the Alerts and notices section on the right side of most pages.

Use this procedure to enter apportionment data for city or other returns.

Note: UltraTax CS uses the white fields in the city and other return columns to complete the city's or other return's apportionment form. (For additional information about how the white fields on the spreadsheet are combined onto the apportionment forms, see the Apportionment Form Combination Tables Guide.) You cannot enter data in the shaded fields, which are for components that are not used on the city's or other return's apportionment form.

  1. Choose View > Apportionment to open the Apportionment Information window.

Note: You must have a state return attached to the current client to open this window.

  2. Enter the state apportionment information, even if the state in which the city is located is apportioned 100 percent in-state. See Entering 1065 apportionment data for state returns.

Note: You must complete this step even if the state will not be apportioned, because the city columns are not part of the main spreadsheet. If the city columns were included in the main spreadsheet, the amounts entered in the city column would be double-counted when you enter information in the state column for clients that are not 100 percent in-state.

  3. In the state tab at the bottom of the window, click the Cities or other returns button to open the Cities and other returns dialog.

Note: You must have a city or other return attached to the current client in order to open this dialog.

  4. Click the Property, Payroll, or Sales tab, and enter apportionment information in the city or other return column for the selected factor.

Note: Some fields in the Cities and other returns dialog have statement dialogs to enter detailed information for this factor's component. UltraTax CS uses the information entered in the statement dialog's Everywhere column as the everywhere amount for that component. UltraTax CS ignores the amount in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet's Everywhere / (Override) column for that component.

  5. If the city or other return requires additional information that cannot be entered into the spreadsheet, use the city or other returns tab at the bottom of the dialog. (If the city or other returns do not require additional information, no city or other returns tab appears in this dialog.)
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to complete data entry for the remaining factors.

Notes

Tips

  • By default, the cursor moves down to the next row in a column when you complete a field. Switching to Cursor Right mode causes the cursor to move to the next column in the same row. To switch to Cursor Right mode, choose Movement > Cursor Right.
  • For information about deleting apportionment information, see Deleting apportionment information (1065).
  • If required, you can override the amount in the Everywhere / (Override) column for all city and other returns that use the same everywhere amount that the state uses. You can also override the everywhere amount for city and other returns on a city-by-city basis. See Overriding everywhere amounts for one 1065 apportionment form.
