Question

How do I access the State allocation spreadsheet from Screen K1, K1T, or 6198?

Answer

Screens K1, K1-2, K1-3, K1-4, K1-5, K1-6, K1-7, PBasis1, PBasis2, SBasis1, SBasis2, K1T, K1T-2, K1T-3, 6198, and 6198-2 have an allocation spreadsheet available for entering state amounts. Rather than accessing each state to enter differences or entering multiple units of Screen K1 for a single partnership, all data can be entered at the federal level for each unit on a single unit.

To access the State allocation spreadsheet, the following conditions must be present.

Notes

  • The State if Different (SID) fields for Screen 6198 are applicable to the following states: AL, CA, HI, KY, MA, NY, OK, OR, and WI. Other states being processed will be present within the State allocation spreadsheet, but the amount fields will not be available.
  • California has two columns available, California Total Sources and California CA Sources. Be sure to enter the total source California K-1 income in the State if Different (SID) fields. Amounts from California sources may be entered in the State allocation spreadsheet if they are different from California Total Source amounts. For part-year and nonresident returns, two Screens St CO and K1 St are created for the state. The Screen St-CO displays the state postal code (CA) and contains the state amounts. Screen K1-St displays the state-source postal code (CS) and contains the state-source amounts.
  • Hawaii has two columns available, Hawaii Total Sources and Hawaii HI Sources. Be sure to enter the total source Hawaii K-1 income in the State if Different (SID) fields. Amounts from Hawaii sources may be entered in the State allocation spreadsheet if they are different from Hawaii Total Source amounts. For part-year and nonresident returns, two Screens St CO and K1 St are created for the state. The Screen St-CO displays the state postal code (HI) and contains the state amounts. Screen K1-St displays the state-source postal code (HS) and contains the state-source amounts.
  • Wisconsin has two columns available, Wisconsin Total Sources and Wisconsin WI Sources. Be sure to enter the total source Wisconsin K-1 income in the State if Different (SID) fields. Amounts from Wisconsin sources may be entered in the State allocation spreadsheet if they are different from Wisconsin Total Source amounts. For part-year and nonresident returns, two Screens St CO and K1 St are created for the state. The Screen St-CO displays the state postal code (WI) and contains the state amounts. Screen K1-St displays the state-source postal code (WS) and contains the state-source amounts.

When these conditions have been met, access the State allocation spreadsheet by choosing View > Allocation from the tool bar.
