MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

If the pension or IRA distribution income is fully taxable, UltraTax CS leaves Form 1040, lines 15a and 16a blank per IRS instructions. To have UltraTax CS always print the total pension or IRA distribution income regardless of taxability, choose Setup > 1040 Individual and click the Other Return Options button. In the Other Return Options dialog on the Return Presentation tab, mark the Print total pension and IRA distributions if not required checkbox.

  • If filing electronically, this feature is disabled, as this can cause an IRS electronic filing error in certain circumstances.
  • This option applies to all 1040 clients, except those filing electronically, and takes immediate effect on any client you subsequently access.
