Electronic Filing Information

Use this section to suppress the Indiana electronic file when the federal return is being filed electronically.

INDOR Mandates: The Indiana Department of Revenue does not accept an electronically filed return under certain circumstances. Refer to Publication IND 1345, the Indiana Handbook for Electronic Return Originators and Transmitters of Individual Income Tax Returns for specific state requirements and limitations. UltraTax/1040-IN detects these conditions and issues diagnostic messages.

Indiana mandates that practitioners who prepared at least 10 individual tax returns in the previous tax year must file resident returns (Form IT-40) electronically in the current tax year.

Indiana allows state-only returns to be filed electronically under the Practitioner PIN method. However, the state does not allow state-only returns to be filed electronically under the Self-Select PIN method. You may choose the Practitioner PIN method by choosing Setup > Office Configuration > E-Filing > ERO and marking the appropriate checkbox.
