MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Error Code IND-941: The Spouse SSN in the Return Header has been locked because Social Security Administration records indicate the number belongs to a deceased individual.

The IRS is rejecting a larger volume of returns with this error code than in prior years.  This is an IRS e-file database (IRS master file) reject that is being issued by the IRS for deceased spouses.  The rejection indicates the SSN "has been locked because Social Security Administration records indicate the number belongs to a deceased individual."

Once you retrieve the acknowledgements, to see IRS rejections, choose Utilities > Electronic Filing Status, select the client and click the [...] button to display the error code numbers and text.  Until the IRS addresses this programming issue, Thomson Reuters recommends the taxpayer file on paper.  Enter the IRS rejection code in the IRS error reject code (ERC) field on Screen ELF, located under the Electronic Filing folder.
