MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

R0000-901-01: Filers EIN and Name Control in the Return Header must match data in the e-file database.

To clear this error, review and clear all diagnostics.

Also, check the entry of the family name of the trust or estate in the Family name for electronic filing name control field on Screen 1041, located under the General folder. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the name control for the electronic file.

The following are some examples.

Name of Trust or Estate Family Name Calculated Name Control
Frank Walnut Estate, Alan Beech, Executor Walnut WALN
Homer J. Maple, Estate Maple MAPL
Jan Fir Trust FBO Patrick Redwood Fir FIR
Maple-Birch Endowment Trust Maple MAPL
Trust No. 12190 FBO Margaret Laurel 1219 1219

UtraTax CS automatically calculates the name control for the electronic file based on information entered in the field mentioned above, per Publication 1438. UltraTax CS prints the text on Screen ELF. Due to various naming conventions used, the calculated text should be reviewed for correctness based on the following:

If the calculated text is not correct, make an entry in the provided force field found on Screen ELF.
