MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Error Code R0000-055-02: Missing Document: /Return/ReturnHeader/SignatureOption: If the signature option "Binary Attachment 8453 Signature Document" is selected (the element 'SignatureOptionCd' in the Return Header has a value of "Binary Attachment 8453 Signature Document"), then a binary attachment with Description "8453 Signature Document" must be present. (value Binary Attachment 8453 Signature Document, rule R0000-055-02).

This rejection occurs when signature information is required, but signature information is missing from the electronic file and 8453 is not attached to the electronic file. Signature information is required only for extensions with electronic funds withdrawal.

If the extension is being filed without a payment, remove all signature information (it is not required) located at the bottom of Screen ELF, under the Electronic Filing folder. Once this information has been removed, re-create and resubmit the electronic file.

If the extension is being filed with an electronic funds withdrawal request, signature information is required. Complete either of the two signature options listed below, re-create and retransmit.

  1. Complete Form 8879-EO, IRS  e-file Signature authorization for an Exempt Organizer by completing signature information at the bottom of Screen ELF, under the Electronic Folder. 8879-EO information is included in the electronic file and no additional 

  2. Complete Form 8453-EO, Exempt Organization Declaration and Signature for Electronic Filing and attach Form 8453-EO to the electronic file. Show me
    1. To include 8453-EO in the electronic file, choose Edit Electronic Filing Attachments and click Add.
    2. In the Product field, select Federal.
    3. In the Return field, select the appropriate extension
    4. In the Attachment title field, select 8453 Signature Document.
    5. If the document was scanned into FileCabinet CS (needs to be embedded), click the FileCabinet CS option and click Select to select the appropriate document. If the document is not in FileCabinet CS, click File and click Browse to search for the document you wish to attach. The document must be in PDF format.
    6. Click OK to return to the Electronic Filing Attachment dialog.
    7. Click View Attachment if you want to see the PDF file that will be attached to the electronic file or click OK to close the dialog.

    Note: You will have to scan the signed 8453-EO as a PDF file to attach it to the electronic file
