Once the facsimile forms are complete, you can export the data to UltraTax CS and accept it into your 1040 client data files via the data sharing feature.

This window shows a series of tabs which display the form facsimiles available in the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility. To open the facsimile of a source document, click the appropriate tab, and then click the icon of the form in the window. You can use the arrow keys to highlight the desired form and press Enter, or you can press the underlined "hot key" character for the desired form. In addition, you can choose the desired form name from the View menu.

To open the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry window, double-click the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry icon on your Windows desktop or choose Utilities > UltraTax CS Source Data Entry from within UltraTax CS.

Fields & buttons

Form facsimiles duplicate the contents of the forms that your clients submit. To use the facsimile forms, enter the data in the Source Data Entry fields exactly as it appears in the original source document.

Note: Fields that are not required or not included in data sharing may be disabled.

Use any of the following methods to open the facsimile for a particular form.

  • Click the tab for the appropriate category of source document, then either (a) click the appropriate form icon in the UltraTax CS Source Data Entry dialog, (b) use the arrow keys to highlight the desired form and press Enter, or (c) press the underlined "hot key" character for the desired form.
  • Choose the form name from the View menu. Choose either the Source Document Processing (OCR) Supported Forms or the Forms and Statements - Data Entry Only sub-menu to see the lists of forms available.

This pane displays general information about each facsimile form that was entered during the current session.

Click this button to save the contents of the session history pane to a text file.

Click this button to print the contents of the session history pane.

Click this button to export the data for use with your UltraTax CS client data via the data sharing feature. The results of the export are displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog.

Click this button to save the information entered in Source Data Entry, but not have it available for use with your UltraTax CS client via data sharing. When data is postponed, the result is displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog box.

Click this button to delete the data entered in the form fields and close the facsimile. The discarded data will not be saved and will not be available via data sharing. When data is discarded, a record of the deletion is displayed in the Session history pane at the bottom of the Source Data Entry dialog. If data was previously exported or postponed for the form, a dialog will provide the choice to either discard changes made to the form during this session or to permanently delete all data for the form.
