MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

Before you begin processing returns, enter the relevant information about your preparers in UltraTax CS. Entering this information prior to preparing returns enables you to immediately assign each new client to the correct preparer. Similarly, you can specify a default preparer to which all new clients are assigned, and can reassign clients to different preparers at any time.

To ensure that your preparer information is accurate, we recommend that you review your preparer information each year before tax season.

  1. To add or change a preparer's information, choose Setup > Office Configuration, and then click the Preparers tab.

Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be required to enter the master password and click OK before you can click the Preparers tab.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • To add a new preparer, click Add to open the Preparer Information dialog.
    • To change an existing preparer's information, highlight the preparer name in the list and click Edit.
    • To remove an existing preparer, highlight the preparer in the list and click Delete.
  3. Enter or update the preparer's name, Social Security number, PTIN/SIDN, and electronic filing identification number (EFIN). You can also enter any applicable electronic filing waiver information, IRS designee information, representative information (for Forms 2848 and 8821), Power of Attorney (POA) designation, and any required state-specific information.
