Use the Vehicle Entry dialog to enter or review data entry information from the Vehicle/Listed tab for all of a client's vehicle assets at once.
To open the Vehicle Entry dialog, open the Asset List window and do one of the following steps.
- Choose Tasks > Vehicle Data Entry.
- Click the Vehicle Data Entry button in the Asset List window.
Fields & buttons
Click this button to access the All Vehicles tab of the Form 4562 Vehicle Questions dialog. In the All Vehicles tab, you can answer questions regarding all of a client's vehicle assets.
In this grid, the application displays the information that has been entered in the Vehicle/Listed tab for all of the client's vehicle assets. The information in the Activity, Asset #, Date in service, Description, and Type of vehicle rows is read-only in this dialog. To modify this information, you must open the Vehicle/Listed tab for the asset and make the changes there.
The rest of the rows in this section of the grid vary depending on the current client's entity type. You can enter data in any field that is not shaded.
The following additional sections appear in the Vehicle information grid for 1040 clients.
- Actual Expenses (bus & pers portion): The application calculates the amounts shown in this section from the amounts entered in the Additional 1040 vehicle information group box in the Vehicle/Listed tab and the This Vehicle tab of the Form 4562 Vehicle Questions dialog.
- Actual Expenses: The application calculates the amounts shown in this section of the grid based on other information in this grid.
- Standard Mileage Rate: The application calculates the amounts shown in this section of the grid based on standard mileage rates and other information in this grid. For more information on standard mileage rates, see Standard mileage rate.
A tab appears in this group box for each of the client's activities that contains vehicle assets. In this group box, the application displays the application-calculated allowable deductions for vehicle expense, vehicle rentals, and vehicle depreciation, along with the total allowable deduction.
Note: This group box appears only for 1040 clients.
