New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

Before you proforma client data or other information from the prior-year UltraTax CS application, verify your prior-year data location in the Data to proforma group box on the Proforma dialog. If the location displayed is not correct, you need to choose or specify the appropriate drive and path.

To choose last year's data location, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Proforma dialog, click the drop-down list in the Data to proforma group box. All data locations available in the prior-year version of UltraTax CS are listed, as well as any location that you have browsed to in the past.
  2. Select the correct prior-year data location.

To specify the appropriate drive and path, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Proforma dialog, click the Change UltraTax CS Location button or (if the data to be proforma'd is on an external storage device) the Change Backup Location button.
  2. Depending on which button you clicked in step 1, do one of the following:
    • If you clicked the Change UltraTax CS Location button: In the File Locations dialog, click the 2017 UltraTax CS option, and proceed to step 3.
    • If you clicked the Change Backup Location button: In the Modify Location dialog, navigate to the appropriate drive and path and click OK. The Modify Location dialog closes and the Proforma dialog becomes active. The drive and path that appears in the Data to proforma group box should now be correct.
  3. In the list, highlight UltraTax CS client data to specify the drive and path for the client data.
  4. Click the Modify Location button to open the Modify Location dialog.
  5. Navigate to the correct drive and path, and then click OK.
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for the Fixed Assets CS data, if required.
  7. Click OK to close the File Locations dialog and return to the Proforma dialog. The drive and path that appear in the Data to proforma group box should now be correct.
