You can use the UltraTax CS client status system to create customized status events that are shared throughout your office.

Defining office-wide status events

Use this procedure to define up to 50 status events for use in tracking the progress of your clients during processing. These are office-wide events that can be used for all clients.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose Office Configuration.

    Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be required to enter the master password and click OK before you can proceed.

  2. Click the Status tab in the Office Configuration dialog.
  3. Click the Add button and enter the title of the event you want to add. (For example, "Returned Organizer," "Interviewed," "Completed," and so on.)

    Note: Custom status events must be unique. You cannot add an event that is identical to an existing UltraTax CS status event.

  4. Click the Enter button.

Repeat this procedure for each of the events you want to add. Note that you can enter a maximum of 50 client status events.

Special information

  • You can forward a client's invoice information to Practice CS if you are licensed for it and have it installed. Highlight a status event in the Event list and mark the With the log of this event, forward invoice to CS Practice Products checkbox. The invoice information will be forwarded to Practice CS when the highlighted event is logged for a client.
  • You can freeze watch fields when logging events. To do so, highlight a status event in the Event list and mark the With the log of this event, freeze client watch fields checkbox. Freezing a watch field makes it easy to monitor the value in that field by using the Watch Fields tab in the Federal Diagnostics dialog.
  • You can specify one event as the appointment event by marking the Appointment Event checkbox. This appointment is related to the appointment fields in Screen Contact in 1040 clients.
  • To modify an event in the Status tab, highlight the title of the event, then click the Edit button.
  • You can create a client to do item with the absence or the logging of an event. Select a status event and mark the Make a client To Do item with the absence / the log of this event checkbox. The status item will appear on the To Do tab of the diagnostic window.
  • To delete an event from the list, highlight the title of the event, then click the Delete button.
