Error

Return/ReturnHeader/ReturnType: The return type indicated in the return header must match the return type established with the IRS for the EIN. (value, rule R0000-900-01)

Solution

There are two reasons for this rejection.

• If this is a Consolidated Client, select all clients within the Consolidation at the same time when creating the e-file. Refer to Preparing 1120 Consolidated returns for electronic filing for details. 
• If the above is not the case, then this rejection is due to the type of return not matching what the IRS has on file; therefore, you will need to file on paper or contact the IRS to correct the issue. The IRS e-help Desk phone number is 866.255.0654.
