What should I enter if I have a state ELF critical diagnostic requiring an officer SSN when the officer is a foreign citizen and/or doesn't have a social security number?
Answer
The IRS advises preparers to enter 888-00-8888 in the officer SSN field for officers without a social security number. In UltraTax CS, enter this in the Social security number for eSignature and state use field on Screen Contact in the General folder.
If you opt not to complete the officer's SSN, enter 999-00-9999 in the Social Security number for eSignature and state use field.
