Question

Why is the preparer's EIN or PTIN printing in the preparer block?

Answer

The application defaults to printing the EIN or PTIN in the preparer block of Forms 990, 990-EZ, and 990-PF. To override this default and leave this field in the preparer block blank, enter X in the Suppress: Preparer's EIN or PTIN on forms, if not a 4947(a)(1) trust field in Screen OthInfo (990E exempt organization client) or OthInfPF (990PF private foundation client).

Note: This field has no effect on returns prepared for 4947(a)(1) trusts. The form instructions specifically require that the paid preparer's EIN or PTIN print in the preparer block for such returns.

To select the suppression for all new returns, see New Client Options dialog (990).
