The UltraTax/District of Columbia Personal Property Tax application supports 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, and 1120S entities. It prepares personal property tax returns from depreciation data entered in the Asset Detail dialog.

District of Columbia forms and schedules

  • Form FP-31 - Personal Property Tax Return
  • Form FP-31P - Personal Property Tax Return Payment Voucher
  • Form FP-129A - Extension of Time to file DC Personal Property tax return or report
  • *Form QHTC-CERT - Certification for Qualified High Technology Company
  • *Schedules D3-D4 - Form FP-31 Personal Property schedules
  • *Form FR-164 - Application for Exemption

* Non-calculating form

Depreciation treatments required for all DC PPT assets

The DC treatment must be entered for District of Columbia Personal Property Tax returns.

Note: If you previously entered depreciation data for only the Tax treatment, you can copy asset data from the Tax treatment to the DC treatment.

Associations required for all DC PPT assets

Assets with the following associations transfer to Form FP-31.

  • Situs: Each asset must have District of Columbia selected in the Situs field to transfer to the District of Columbia Personal Property Tax return.
  • Location: Enter the address of where the property is located. A page 3 unit for the property tax return is created for each location entered. This information transfers to the Location field at the top of Form FP-31, page 3. The maximum number of characters that transfer is 35.
  • PPT category - DC: Select the category the asset belongs in from the drop-down list.

    Note: The list for this association is maintained by UltraTax CS and Fixed Assets CS and cannot be modified.

  • PPT type - DC: Enter the appropriate personal property type for the asset. Assets with the following property types transfer to Form FP-31.
    • Books, DVDs, other ref
    • Furniture, fixtures/machinery equip
    • Unreg motor vehicles, trailers other

    Note: The list for this association is maintained by UltraTax CS and Fixed Assets CS and cannot be modified. If the association fields are left blank or X - Exempt is selected, the asset will not transfer to Form FP-31.

Associations required for disposals

Note: If a client does not have any disposals, you can turn off the corresponding PPT associations. To do so, choose Setup > Associations, clear the checkbox next to an association, and click OK.

  • Purchaser name
  • Purchaser address
  • Purchaser city, st, zip
  • Future disp date
  • Future disp method
  • Future sales price
