Question

Why do some deduction items entered in Screen 8283P1 not show information in columns (e), (f), or (g) in Part I of Form 8283, Page 1?

Answer

Pursuant to IRS instructions for Form 8283, Page 1, if the amount being claimed as a deduction for an item is $500 or less, these columns do not have to be completed.

Note: To force columns (e), (f), and (g) to print despite the $500 threshold, choose Setup > 1040 Individual and click the Other Return Options button. In the Other Return Options dialog on the Return Presentation tab, mark the Print Form 8283 columns (e), (f) and (g) if not required checkbox. Note this setting is global and applies to all clients.
