Question

If an employer made contributions to an Archer MSA during the year, is Form 8853 still required?

Answer

Yes. If the taxpayer (or spouse, if married filing jointly) had an Archer MSA during the year (even if the contributions to the Archer MSA were made by an employer), you must file Form 8853.
