Question
How do I identify series EE or I U.S. savings bond interest?
Answer
US savings bond interest should be assigned Type Code 7 in the Interest Income statement dialog in Screen B&D or Screen Broker. Form 8815 uses this information to calculate the exclusion of all or a portion of the interest from taxation.
