New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

Several states have passed or are in the process of passing laws and regulations regarding electronic transmission of financial information. When sending PDF documents via email from UltraTax CS, the security of the information depends on both the email message itself and the system-generated PDF file.

  • The security of the email message is based on the settings in your default MAPI-compliant email application. When you send an email from within UltraTax CS, the email is encrypted if your email application is set to do so.
  • The security of the PDF attachment uses the encryption inherent in the Adobe PDF format. To further secure the document, choose to password-protect the system-generated PDF, which enables 40-bit encryption on the file.

For more information on security and encryption standards, we suggest referring to the AICPA's Privacy Checklist.

Virtual Office CS / SaaS Note: The email from Outlook is not encrypted in the Virtual Office CS / SaaS environment.
