1041-NY: Form IT-205, Page 2 - Resident, nonresident and part-year resident checkboxes

New (tax) year, new help!

To mark the applicable residency status on Form IT-205, Schedule C, the following information must be entered:

New York State

  • Full year resident: The Months of Residency in: New York State field on Screen NYGen has 12 entered, or this field is left blank and the State of residency field on federal Screen 1041 is coded to NY.
  • Part-year resident: The Months of Residency in: New York State field on Screen NYGen has any number entered that is 1-11.
  • Full year nonresident: The Months of Residency in: New York State field on Screen NYGen has no input and the State of residency field on federal Screen 1041 is not coded as NY.

New York City/Yonkers

  • Full year resident: The Months of Residency in: City of New York or City of Yonkers field on Screen NYGen has 12 entered.
  • Part-year resident: The Months of Residency in: City of New York or City of Yonkers field on Screen NYGen has any number entered that is 1-11.
  • Full year nonresident: The Months of Residency in: City of New York or City of Yonkers field on Screen NYGen has no input and there is income from that city. Note that this is only applicable to the City of Yonkers as there is no checkbox for Full year nonresident for NYC.
